Justine Bradley-Hill is not only an exceptionally talented milliner, but also a seasoned designer with over 30 years of experience in the industry. With a remarkable 20 years of millinery practice, Justine has honed her skills to perfection, making her a highly sought-after teacher in the field. Offering bespoke one-on-one millinery tuition and conducting master class workshops, she provides a unique and personalized learning experience for her students.
In addition to her extensive practical experience, Justine holds an impressive academic background. She obtained a BSc (Hons) Degree in Textiles, which has undoubtedly contributed to her exceptional craftsmanship. Additionally, she has completed the City and Guilds Level 2 and Level 3 in Creative Arts, specializing in Millinery, as well as an HNC in Millinery from Leeds College of Art. Her deep knowledge and expertise in both the practical and theoretical aspects of millinery are unparalleled.


Justine's talent and reputation as a milliner have not gone unnoticed. She has had the privilege of being a guest tutor for prestigious events such as London Hat Week for four consecutive years from 2017 to 2020. Furthermore, she has been invited to share her expertise at renowned establishments including Parkin Fabrics, Hat Blocks Direct, Artipistolis Spain, The Creative Workshops, and Hatwalk Ireland. Justine's passion for teaching and her dedication to passing on her knowledge to the next generation of milliners shine through in these collaborations.

Introduction to millinery studio based.

One year introduction to millinery – booking now open for October intake.


Total cost £1700 -initial non returnable deposit of £500 and then 6 monthly payments of £200.

This an introduction to millinery to get you started on your journey The course consists of 11 sessions over the one year Running October -September with a break in August (1 session per month). The studio class runs 10 am -4pm.

The year will introduce you to the basics of millinery.

The class is held in my well-equipped studio, which includes blocks, steamers, irons, and sewing machines for the students' use. However, students are required to bring their own personal millinery sewing kits, which should include both standard sewing equipment and specific millinery tools. Throughout the course, depending on the specific projects and techniques being covered, students may need to source their own materials and equipment. Guidance will be provided on the necessary materials and equipment for each topic.

Total cost £2000 initial non returnable deposit of £800 and then 6 monthly payments of £200. Two students per class. The course consists of 11 sessions over the one year.

For milliners with at least one year of millinery, practice consists of 11 sessions over one year (1 session per month) September -. I am passionate about the traditional craft of millinery and teach my students how to become milliners and design without replicating others’ work. I do not teach any of my current trims.

The course consists of a series of projects covering different areas of millinery and is designed to develop varied technical skills and expand each student’s individual design creativity.

Subjects covered:

  • Working with fabric and foundation material to produce Jackie O pillbox and 16 pleats sectioned buttons or beret

  • Couture sinamay including bias and free-form pieces

  • Advanced straw bias/free or boater techniques

  • Leather blocking and flower making

  • Rigid veil/Veil blocking/ Veil trims

  • Working with lace to create my signature boater

  • Hat fittings

  • Producing a collection and identifying trends is discussed throughout the year.

  • Colour matching and dying

  • Felt

3rd millinery for those who completed intermediate course or accomplished Milliners wanting studio contact.

The total cost of the course is £2000, with an initial non-refundable deposit of £800 required to secure your spot. After that, there will be 6 monthly payments of £200.

Each class will have a maximum of two students, allowing for personalized attention and guidance.

The course spans over one year and consists of 11 sessions, giving you ample time to work on your own projects with my supervision and guidance.

Whether you are an advanced student looking to enhance specific techniques or a professional seeking to refine your skills, this course will provide you with the opportunity to further develop your millinery abilities.

ZOOM

All the above classes can be run over ZOOM

To attend millinery classes over Zoom, you will need to ensure have the necessary millinery equipment.

The equipment typically includes items like hat blocks, hat wire, sinamay, feathers, ribbons, trims, a steam iron, and a hat steamer.

I have a maximum of three student per zoom class, this way, I can provide personalised attention and guidance to each student during the online sessions.

Zoom can be a fun and convenient way for you to learn the art of hat-making from the comfort of your own home.

1-1 Bespoke teaching session with Justine

6 hr session either one day 10.00am - 4.00pm or split into two 3 hr sessions. Discuss with Justine subject you would like to cover. Cost £300 per six hour session materials are not included.
