Leading Yorkshire milliner Justine Bradley-Hill will guide you through a one day creative workshop to create your own headpiece. Learn how to block (shape) a headpiece and how to trim and decorate using feathers and beads. You will also see historic hats from Harrogate’s collection and be introduced to the history of hat making. Cost £45 including materials and refreshments (lunch not provided), although please feel free to bring any buttons, beads or ribbons you would like to incorporate. Basic sewing skills are required. This is the perfect course if you have always wanted to make your own headpiece. Students will learn how to block (create a base shape), stiffen, wire and trim a simple button shape. Materials are included in the price.
In this one day workshop you will create a simple button shaped headpiece using buckram and a fabric of your choice. You will learn how to block the foundation in buckram and then cover to a professional standard in a fabric of your choice.
In this one day workshop students will be introduced to the traditional method of couture flower making using egg irons and flower makings tools. From less than a meter of silk you will create a fantastic cabbage rose and leaves. Students will be shown how to create their own flower patterns and work with different fabrics to create stunning millinery flowers.
In this one day workshop you will learn how to work with Jinsin. Discover how to manipulate this beautiful fabric to create trims and simple headpieces. Included in the price of the class is one meter of Jinsin fabric.
